Overview

As this was the last year of existance of the ALI, the production of the Chief Inspectors Annual Report, a publication received by learners, teachers, guidance institutions and even the Prime Minister himself, took on a whole new significance.

Aims

  • To come up with a cost-effective, engaging and informative annual report
  • To ensure clarity of message reflecting the standing of the ALI, to underline the range and depth of information
  • To create a distinctive on-brand design which was easy to read both on and off-line
  • To enable the wide range of stakeholders to access the information they require quickly and effectively

M-Corp deliverables

M-Corp developed an innovative solution that moved away from the traditional delivery of a print only annual report. Research had identified that only a small proportion of the information in the report was of interest to audiences at any one time, however the publication had to display all the relevant data and permutations.

A printed report was created to highlight key messages and give a sector overview, in addition a CD ROM and on-line version enabled full interactivity and access to the report findings. Through a combination of visual and written testimonials, ‘fast read’ facts, key quotes and statistics, this report is both a statement of record and a guide for the future.

As the last Annual Report of the ALI, our selected concept focussed on two complimentary angles, the success of the ALI and recognition of learners and providers. This recognition and achievement focusses not only on the last year but also on the ALI’s 6 year tenure. The concept celebrates the collective achievement of the learner, provider and the ALI in two ways: the baton transfer represents handover of responsibility, the case studies highlight individual learner and provider successes.

How successful has it been?

M-Corp’s track record with the ALI is excellent, having been awarded the awarded the much coveted ‘Government Information Publication of the Year’ and the Judges Special Award at the CIPFA Public Reporting and Accountability Awards in the same year.
